Become Drive Test Examiner with a local 3rd Party Testing Business!

NW Drivers Ed LLC is looking for patient, observant, enthusiastic, and articulate examiners to assist our communities with completing their DMV road test/skills test in pursuit of their driving privileges. We are currently seeking qualified applicants for full-time positions to assist the public with time sensitive testing opportunities in a generally safer environment, including COVID-19 precautions.

We offer competitive wages for Drive Test Examiners starting at $18 an hour ($14 base plus $4 for skilled service work). Starting wage varies depending on qualifications.

Wages vary based on work assignments:

  • Drive Testing: $18 – $20 hourly ($14 base + $4-$6 skilled service work)
  • Administrative Duties, In House Training, and other general duties: $14 hour;
    • (other general duties may include refueling vehicles, car washes, and so on)
  • WEEKLY OVERTIME OPPORTUNITIES CURRENTLY EXIST, IF DESIRED (@1.5 regular rate)

 Job Description:

Administer DMV Driving Skills Tests as an employee of a 3rd Party Drive Testing Business;

Fairly and effectively communicate the testing process to each applicant;

Provide clear directions and maintain a safe testing environment for all roadway users;

Observe, evaluate, and record the applicants actions for safety and legal driving behaviors;

Provide a clear summation of the test results; and

Perform additional administrative tasks/supporting duties such as refueling and paperwork.

 Minimum Requirements:

(To meet ODOT-DMV standards required to be approved to conduct drive tests for a 3rd Party Testing Business all examiners must pass criminal background checks and maintain a clean driving record. In addition, certain minimum qualifications are required by state law or administrative rule to qualify.)

  • Be 21 years of age or older and have continuously held a valid driver license for 5 years;
  • Be able to pass a criminal background check,
  • Have a clean driving record for the past 5 years;
  • Have or be able to obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid certificate;
  • Demonstrate effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Be able to demonstrate basic computer, filing and record keeping skills;
  • Be able to physically sit in a vehicle for long periods and have the necessary physical mobility to take control of an automobile while in the front passenger seat;
  • Promote a safe and effective teaching environment with respect for every individual, including embracing diversity and cultural differences;
  • Experience with responsible handling of confidential information;
  • Have flexible availability that meets market demands.
  • Have and maintain reliable transportation to Corvallis, Albany, Salem, and/or Eugene;
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent;

 Preferred Qualifications Include:

  • Multi-lingual a plus, but not required;
  • Flexible availability; days, evenings, and weekends.

 Essential Job Functions:

  • Complete safety inspection of the vehicle at the start of the shift and before each drive test and immediately report any concerns to management;
  • Assist in the administration of paperwork required to record and evidence testing results;
  • Attend ODOT-DMV training and retraining sessions as required;
  • Attend company scheduled staff meetings;
  • Maintain a safe environment for our customers, our staff, and the general public while conducting services and interacting with others;
  • Maintain a climate of mutual respect and fairness that embraces diversity;
  • Will be subject to regular evaluations which will at times include official ODOT evaluations;
  • Employees must demonstrate responsible handling of confidential information and adhere to a strict non-disclosure agreement;
  • Perform other related duties as directed; and
  • Understand and utilize appropriate vehicle and safety technology.
